BioListings.com - FAQ

Will I receive spam or be otherwise hassled when I register?

No, we really hate it when websites do that.

BioListings.com does not rent, sell, or share your contact information with other parties. We require registration to help protect our members and insure integrity of the site. Members can sign up for a weekly opt-in email newsletter with new listings, articles, and updates if they choose. Our members don't automatically receive this newsletter and can sign up or cancel receiving it at the Account Settings section of their member homepage.

How do I advertise my company, service, or new product on BioListings.com?

There are a few ways:

1) You can request that your company is included in the Life Science Directory by sending an email to: webmaster@biolistings.com. Our editors will review your company to determine if your products or services are applicable to the life sciences industry. There is no charge for companies to appear in the Life Science Directory and we do not rank companies in the directory.

2) Become a member and create a listing. Product Reviews, New Equipment-Offered, and Services-Offered are a few ways to publicize you offerings.

How do I make my listing in the Life Science Directory STAND OUT?

The listing for your company in the Life Science Directory can be upgraded to a premium listing including your company banner, company description, product services, and multiple category listings in addition to a thumbnail banner image that will appear under all searches for your company. Biolistings.com does not allow for pay for search advertising, as we want the directory to be as useful as possible. However, we will allow you to STAND OUT from the crowd.

Life science industry advocacy organizations and not-for-profits are entitled to free premium listings in the directory.

My listing doesn't fit in any existing category

As a user-generated site we rely on the community for new categories and ideas. You can request new categories from your member homepage with the "Send Category Request" link in the right hand column under "My Active Listings."

Why should I use Biolistings.com?

BioListings.com is a community dedicated only to the life sciences. You can do useful things and find useful things that you can't elsewhere. As a free, user-generated site its success depends upon your input and collaboration.

 What is the catch?

There is no catch or gimmick, it was created as a tool for you to use. It is free and independent because we allow advertising on the site to fund its operation.

Why does Biolistings.com maintain a human edited web page?

Biolistings.com is dedicated only to the life sciences. We want to insure that listings are relevant, accurate, complete, and fall within the boundaries of acceptability for our community.  Algorithms just don't seem to get humor or nuance, so we were stuck using people.

What's new with Biolistings.com?

Biolistings.com has created a Popular Searches page utilizing tag clouds. This page visibly demonstrates the popular search terms from the Life Science Directory and their relative importance versus each other. The link is found on the home page.

How do I report an error or bad link?

This site is currently in a beta version so these errors will happen from time to time. Please email websmaster@biolistings.com with the error and we will correct it.

We put a lot of effort into battling fraud and abuse on the site. We welcome all members, but your account may have been expunged if fraudulent activities originating from your account were suspected. Accounts using Hotmail and Yahoo email addresses may be particularly affected.

How do I add a weblink for my listing?

When creating a listing you can promote your company and/or add a link by selecting the check box "Please select if you want to add a company description and/or a link" on the Add New Listing Page. Company Description and Website Link fields will pop up automatically. This information is viewable for the listing once a member logs into the site.

We also allow the category "Events" to post weblinks within the Description text, but you need to use html code for the weblink to appear. Weblinks in the Description text are viewable by both members and visitors alike.
