In a little less than a month, Biolistings.com’s beta website has generated over 2000 unique searches through its Life Science Directory. This number is small in comparison the users of Google or Craigslist, but Biolistings.com has completed this with no marketing and an evolving beta form of its website. We believe this highlights just how hard it is for the life science community to easily find suppliers for the products and services they need. It further demonstrates the potential for a user-generated online life science community.
Biolistings.com started compiling companies throughout the industry by reaching out to professionals working in the life sciences. Many of these professionals have in turn taken on an advisory role to help form the site. Our guiding objective has been to keep Biolistings.com simple and useful. We have tested multiple format styles and will continue to do so with the help of our members.
The currently launched prototype will continue to be revised as we gather feedback from users. This grass roots approach allows the community to give their feedback and help create a site that is truly useful for the community to use.
The little-known popular search function in the life science directory allows users to see what terms users are searching for in the life science directory and the relative importance of that search term to other searched terms. This use of the Web 2.0 tagclouds allows companies in the directory to see what information and keywords potential customers utilize when they search. Our internal search engine returns terms found in the category, location, name, and in the Company Description and Products and Services Description fields.
Send us an email if your company would like to upgraded with a company banner, company description, and product and service description. We'll upgrade it for free during the beta period.
